Traditional retailers quietly enter the "unmanned convenience store"

Since last year, the wave of unmanned retail has swept across the country. No matter from the initial popularity to the current low tide, unmanned retail has always stood on the cusp. And traditional retailers have also smelled the new force can not be underestimated, is quietly entering. The whole family of convenience store giants has announced the launch of smart vending machines and deformation shelves, which means that its official layout is unmanned retail. Coincidentally, in February of this year, another convenience store giant 7-Elevens first unmanned convenience store "X-Store" also appeared in Taiwan. When traditional convenience stores enter the market without retail, will it inject a strong agent into the unmanned retail industry and become the future development trend of traditional convenience stores?

At the “New Consumer Forum – 2018 China Convenience Store Conference” hosted by the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, China’s CEO Jin Jianhong announced that the family will launch an intelligent convenience store and adopt the “family+” smart convenience store model to launch the first smart vending machine. And deformed shelves.

Lin Jianhong said that the Chinese family superimposed smart vending machines and deformed shelves near physical stores, and used big data and smart technology to meet the consumption needs of more time and scenes. In small-sized stores such as subway stations, airports and urban office buildings, the deformation shelves have become a complement to store shelves, which can be applied to a variety of store types and business districts to meet immediate consumer demand.

Zhang Jian, an industry expert at the China E-Commerce Association, believes that judging whether the new model of traditional convenience stores can form a climate in the market and gain consumer recognition, mainly depends on whether it can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the consumer experience after the change. The combination of traditional stores and unmanned equipment not only improves the operating efficiency of the store, but also improves the purchasing efficiency of the consumers; it not only reduces the staff cost of the store, but also reduces the time cost of the consumer, thereby greatly improving the consumer experience. . Therefore, this model will become the object of the traditional convenience store to follow, and will become a trend. From the perspective of competition, the maturity of the traditional store supply chain system is relatively high and relatively smooth. Once the traditional convenience store combines unmanned equipment, coupled with a mature supply chain system, it will inevitably impact the current unattended convenience store. However, the practitioners of unattended convenience stores have strong Internet thinking, and they are based on the consumers core. Compared with traditional stores, the products have the advantage of thinking and are more easily recognized by consumers. It can be said that both have their own advantages and disadvantages, and it is still necessary to test the time of the deer.

Huang Wenjie, executive chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Circulation Chamber of Commerce and president of the Guangdong Commercial Real Estate Investment Association, said that the current unmanned convenience store industry is still in its infancy and has not formed a large scale. When an experienced traditional convenience store joins the unmanned retail industry, it can help consumers to recognize and accept the model of unmanned convenience stores, and play a positive role in the promotion and promotion of unmanned convenience stores.
