Square revamps omnichannel solutions

Mobile payment technology provider Square is enhancing the omnichannel retail capabilities of its product suite.

Square is upgrading two omnichannel applications – Square Online Store and Square for Retail. These new offerings are the first Square products to be fully integrated with Weebly, a platform for building a website or online store that Square acquired in April 2018.

The new Square Online Store provides retailers with a professional e-commerce website and integrated tools including Instagram selling, shipping, and in-store pickup. The upgraded solution also integrates with restaurant operations, allowing food service retailers to offer seamless online ordering from their website, customized pickup times across multiple locations, and the option to pay ahead for online orders.

“It’s crucial that sellers are able to reach their buyers on any channel, whether in person, online, or in apps,” said David Rusenko, head of e-commerce at Square. “With the new Square Online Store, we’re excited to integrate Weebly technology and bring the Square omnichannel experience to everything from retail businesses to restaurants.”

Square has also redesigned the Square for Retail point-of-sale app. Users can create a professional website and automatically connect their Square for Retail catalog to their Square Online Store, allowing them to sync their items, inventory, prices, and data instantly across online and offline channels. Retailers that integrate Square for Retail and Square Online Store can also enable their customers to shop online and pick up their purchases in store. Finally, the app has been redesigned to make managing online orders alongside a brick-and-mortar store faster and more intuitive.
