Neiman Marcus equips store associates with new selling tool (BY DAN BERTHIAUME, sourced from Chain Store Age)

Neiman Marcus is helping its associates make sales beyond the walls of the store.

The luxury department store retailer is leveraging the SocialShop social shopping feature of the Salesfloor store associate mobile app. The feature enables associates to share shoppable Instagram posts with their customers via their SocialShop feed. This permits customers to click and buy products directly from an associate’s Instagram post, with the associate receiving credit for the sale.

Associates using Salesfloor can add shoppable products, photos or marketing assets on their Instagram feed for customers to purchase. When the new feature is enabled, a SocialShop page is automatically created that showcases all of the associate’s Instagram posts on one page. Associates add their personal SocialShop link to their Instagram bio so that customers can shop recent posts.

SocialShop is currently available for Instagram, and Salesfloor plans to expand the feature to other social networks later this year.

Instagram is on its way to becoming an established platform for online and mobile shopping. The social network recently launched checkout on Instagram, which allows Instagram users to browse and purchase items from select brands without leaving the site.

And in September 2018, Instagram launched two new social shopping updates. Users can shop on Instagram Stories, a feature that reveals images and video content in a slideshow format. As brands post items in their Stories feed, users can tap on the product to learn more.

Separately, Instagram launched Shopping in Explore, an option that enables users to shop based on their specific interests. The functionality curates shopping posts from the brands users follow, as well as brands that fit into their browsing history.
