In terms of consumption type, in December, the retail sales of goods were 3,814.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%; catering revenue was 540.5 billion yuan, an increase of 30.0%. In 2023, retail sales of goods will 41860.5 billion yuan, an increase of 5.8% over the previous year; catering revenue was 5,289 billion yuan, an increase of 20.4 percent. In 2023, the retail sales of department stores, convenience stores, specialty stores and brand stores among retail units above designated size increased by 8.8%, 7.5%, 4.9% and 4.5% respectively over the previous year, while the retail sales of supermarkets decreased by 0.4% over the previous year.
