On 3 April, Guangdong 7-Eleven and Meituan Drone officially reached a cooperation, more than 3,000 kinds of commodities in the convenience store access to drone delivery, including nearly 100 kinds of 7-Eleven fresh food commodities.
According to retail expo, consumers shopping for 7-Eleven commodities at the drone landing site in Shenzhen Longgang Xinghe Commercial Circle can choose to be delivered by the drone, and the commodities can be delivered to the landing site in as little as 4 minutes after being boxed. In the future, the service will cover more scenic spots, colleges and universities and other scenes as more shops come online.
According to retail expo, Guangdong 7-Eleven will operate more than 1,700 shops in 13 cities across the province. After cooperating with Meituan's drones, Guangdong 7-Eleven will be able to leverage the power of technology to effectively reshape the "social distance" between the company and consumers, so that the delivery process will no longer be affected by the road surface factors, and the delivery efficiency will be higher. And in the future, it can also penetrate into new scenes such as scenic spots to better meet consumer demand.
According to retail expo, as of the end of December 2023, Meituan UAV has landed 25 routes in 11 business districts in Shenzhen, Shanghai and other cities, and its distribution service covers a variety of scenarios such as office, scenic spots, municipal parks, medical care, campuses, etc., and has completed a total of more than 220,000 orders; in terms of distribution efficiency, UAV distribution has improved by nearly 40% compared with the traditional mode, and saved more than 10,000 hours of waiting time for consumers only last year. Last year alone, it saved consumers more than 10,000 hours of waiting time.
