World Cup boosts retail sales growth in June
The football World Cup inspired the British to open their pockets, and total retail sales rose 2.3% in June.
Monitoring data showed that retail sales growth in June was tied for second place in 2018, compared with 2% in the same period last year.
May was the best month for retail sales in 2018, with an increase of 4.1%.
The sales growth momentum in June was mainly due to the fact that in the World Cup, the England team passed through and the consumption of beer, barbecue and television increased.
