Retail fair|StockX releases immersive shopping experience for Apple Vision Pro

Joining other brands and retailers in the spatial computing trend, StockX, the Detroit-based sneakers, apparel, electronics and collectibles reseller, has introduced an immersive shopping app for Apple Vision Pro users, the company announced Monday.

With the app, users can view 3D product models of sneaker releases that appear on shelves in their home environment. Users can also browse available products, shop user-generated content and access real-time market data. According to retail fair, shoppers can make purchases with a few physical gestures, per the press release.

According to retail fair, the company said it plans to integrate seller tools and shopper personalization features, such as highlighting items customers’ friends are buying.

Following the release of the Apple Vision Pro headset in February, some brands have already launched into the space. Last month, E.l.f. Cosmetics, Alo Yoga and Wayfair announced their own Apple Vision Pro apps.

The company, which said it is among the first resale marketplaces on VisionOS, looks forward to adding more features and updates to the new app, Drew Moore, senior director of product design at StockX, said.

“Nothing replaces the feeling of picking a sneaker off the shelf and holding it in your hands, but this new experience comes very close,” Greg Schwartz, StockX president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “It’s everything you know and love about StockX, but in an entirely new dimension.”

According to retail fair, users of the new app have similar benefits as shopping on the platform, including 360-degree photography and products that have been verified by experts. Customers can also interact with items in a “hyper-realistic manner” which allows them to examine product details, according to the company.

Beyond creating an immersive shoe-shopping experience, StockX has also been focused on authentication. Last year the company opened its first authentication center in Mexico, the 14th authentication center in its network. The company said its location in Mexico City would have a number of benefits including faster shipping and payouts for buyers and sellers.
